During tonight's Board Reorganizational Meeting, David Allgaier was sworn in for his 6th term on the Lawson Board of Education. Rob Kellam was nominated and elected as board president, with Dwayne Peoples being nominated and elected as vice president. Ashley Sullard and Taylor Akey also officially became the newest board members. Ashley Sullard, David Allgaier, and Taylor Akey received the most votes in the April 4 election, securing their 3-year terms on the board.



April Board Spotlights: After the reorganizational meeting, the board recognized Jeff Terrill and Jason Thummel for their service to the district during their term on the Lawson R-XIV School Board from 2020-2023. Thier dedication and service are much appreciated!
The next board spotlight was to recognize Mr. Roger Schmitz, former Lawson Superintendent, who has been awarded the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) Northwest Emeritus Award. In selecting the Emeritus honorees, special attention is given to the length of administrative service, participation in MASA, significant accomplishments as an active member, and continued interest in public education. Roger fits each of these categories, and his recognition is well deserved by his colleagues throughout Missouri.
Next, Lawson Middle School student Barrett Krieger, was recognized fir receibing the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Excellence Award for the essay he wrote about Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. Students were asked to write an essay about a famous person that was an inspiration to others.
Finally, the board recognized high school teacher, Mrs. Karen Johnson for the Missouri Interscholastic Journalism Association (MIJA) Journalism Teacher of the Year Award. She was nominated by a former student during her time with the Kearney School District. Mrs. Johnson has rejoined Lawson High School and teaches English and Journalism courses and is the Lawson Landriac sponsor.

SW Teacher's Aide Opening 2023-2024
The Lawson R-XIV School District is looking for a Teacher's Aide for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a full-time, 5-day position that mirrors the district calendar. This position will include breakfast duty, lunch duty, bus duty, preparing materials, and working with students with the possibility of subbing in a classroom. The individual in this position must be able to obtain a Missouri Substitute Certification and pass a background check.

MS/HS School Nurse Opening 2023-2024
The Lawson R-XIV School District is currently accepting applications for a School Nurse to be employed during the 2023-24 school year. Preferred qualifications for applicants include RN or BSN certification. All certifications will be considered. Responsibilities will include: providing nursing services at Lawson High School and Lawson Middle School (grades 5-12) and completing paperwork as required. This is an 11-month position from August 1- June 30. The daily schedule will be approximately 7:35am to 3:15pm daily. Salary will be determined based on certification and experience. At a special board meeting last night, the Board of Education approved an amendment to the release time on the last day of school. In the original calendar, the last day of the 2022-23 school year was scheduled to be a full day on Friday, May 19th.
The last day will remain Friday, May 19th, but will now be an early dismissal at 11:30 am.


Please join us at Lawson High School for the 4th Annual Cardinal Career & Technical Fair to be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. There will be 20+ schools, internship/apprenticeships, and military present to educate students about possible career fields that don't require a four year degree and don't cost as much as a traditional college experience.

The Lawson Concert Band performed at the MSHSAA Large Ensemble Festival today, earning an Exemplary (1) rating. Congratulations to the hard working band students at Lawson for their great achievement! #WeAreLawson


Junior students listened to a presentation from Missouri National Guard recruiter Sgt. Julian Walker to learn how to read and interpret the scores they earned on the ASVAB test that they took in February.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually for students interested in military as a career or for other students as test practice for future testing such as the ACT. It also includes a career interest inventory component to assist students in career and educational decisions.
