May Board Spotlights:
The first board spotlight was to recognize the hard work and dedication of our two registered nurses, Tina Murdock and Melinda Grimpo. Not only do these two ladies help many of our students each day, but they recently applied for and received a feminine product grant through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for approximately $713.
This grant provides these products for all Lawson middle school and high school girls’ restrooms, and gives students and patrons access to these items at no cost.
We greatly appreciate all that these two ladies do to help the well-being and health of all our students!
Next, the board recognized the Robotics team for all their hard work and success this year. Members of the team along with sponsor, Mr. Rodney Foster, were present to talk about their experience at the FRC Worlds Competition they recently attended in Houston, Texas. The competition was that consisting of over 400 teams from around the world. We are so proud of their hard work and accomplishments!

Time Warp Tuesday: Honoring our Seniors on their last day of school with a throwback to their Kindergarten year!
Please join us in honoring the Class of 2023 at this year's Graduation Ceremony. The ceremony is this Sunday, May 21st at 2:00pm in the LHS Gym. Doors will open at 12:30. Overflow seating will be in the Sellers Performing Arts Center and in the HS Commons.
Congratulations to sophomore Jordyn McCown on earning honorable mention for her April Photo of the Month competition entry to MIJA (Missouri Interscholastic Journalism Association), the state student journalism organization. Yearbook staff members submit entries each month and then we select the best from those to enter one in the state monthly competition. The retiring class of 2023 and their families were treated to a special dinner last night hosted by the Board and district administration. Thank you Susan Edwards, Tammy Dunn, Missy Green, Gayle Livingston, and Megan Owens for your service and dedication to the Lawson School District. Collectively they leave a legacy in education of 136 years!

Congratulations to this year's recipients of the Rotary Scholarships and the Rotary Citizenship Awards. Every year the Rotary awards scholarships to three seniors. This year's recipients are Layne Ayers, Maryanna Bolinger, and Aubrey Cox. In addition the Rotary extends a Citizenship Award to a senior, an 8th grader, and a 4th grader. This year's award winners were senior Maggie Thompson, Preston Barker from LMS, and Alora Masson from Southwest Elementary. Lawson Middle School's 7th & 8th grade participated in "Profession Jam Session" (Career Day). The students had the opportunity to listen to a variety of career speakers as well as investigate careers that match their interests. A thank you to our presenters (many of them Lawson alumni): Ryan Busby (and First Responders), Quincy Cotton, Jeri Dobson, Blake Edwards, MaKenna Petty, Julie Seeley, Lance Van Dusen, and Starla Yarbrough.
Lawson High School's Cardinal Career and Technical Education Fair was held last night. Over 50 participants visited with 16 schools, technical programs and military to learn about career options outside of traditional college. All students who attended answered that the fair helped them learn more about CTE career fields.
