Congratulations go out to our newest members of Lawson High School's National Honor Society. We had a group of 17 outstanding sophomores and juniors inducted last night. To be selected, a student must have earned at least a 3.75 unweighted GPA over at least three semesters of high school, submit an application detailing leadership, activities, and service activities, and be approved through a faculty council.
Congratulations to them and thank you to our experienced NHS members for all of their help last night.

Students at the High School in Mrs. Harrold's World History class did a simulation to prevent WWI. After learning about the causes of WWI, the students had to work within their government's guidelines to come up with a peace proposal. They had time to negotiate with other diplomats from other countries. In the end, each of the four classes came up with peace plans that did not end up working out, and WWI ended up happening after all due to the number and types of causes (one class inadvertently started WWI in another way, and another class partly started WWII by mirroring British actions in the 1930s).

The year is 1782 and Johann Andreas' family business on the shores of Lake Huron is in trouble. For some reason nobody wants to stay at "Andreas Wasp Infested Inn." Luckily for Johann, Captain Short Fuse Composure arrives on the scene, having been stranded by a band of pirates who mistook Michigan for an island. In his possession is a treasure map, and he promises Johann a share of the loot if he can assemble a crew and reach the treasure in advance of his arch-rival, the dreaded Burgundy Beard. Between dealing with Captain Short Fuse Composure's fear of North Atlantic Sea Tigers, an idiotic crew, and a complete lack of knowledge about the sea, will it be possible for Johann to find the treasure, get the girl, charm her father, stop tripping over things, and save his family business?

Daylight Savings Time begins tomorrow, March 12th!
