October Board Spotlights: The Board had the opportunity to celebrate and spotlight several outstanding student accomplishments during their recent meeting. The first spotlight was on Ben Mayne, who recently completed his Eagle Scout service project (constructing an outdoor shelter on our middle school campus), earning him his Eagle Scout Rank. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest and most prestigious rank achievable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) program. Our second spotlight was on Cara Siebert for her selection and attendance at Girls State this past summer. Our final spotlight was focused on our Lawson FFA Chapters - NW Fall Contest Participants. On October 3rd, eight students went to Northwest Missouri State University to compete in our program's first-ever contest event. The day was a success, with our Advanced and Novice Teams receiving 1st place honors and two of our students also placing 1st place overall in their contest. Advanced Knowledge team members were Cooper Stephenson (High Individual), Wyatt Covey, Preston Yarbrough, and Calvin Jennings. Novice Knowledge team members were Bailey Payne (High Individual), Ben Olinger, Ella Ripley, and Grayson Gadberry. #WeAreLawson

Join Us for Our Veterans Day Assembly! Dear Lawson Community, We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Veterans Day Assembly at Lawson Middle School and High School. This special event will honor and express our gratitude to the brave men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country. It’s a meaningful opportunity for our community to come together in appreciation and support for our veterans. Date: Friday, November 8th Time: Veterans Breakfast @ 8:30 a.m. / Schoolwide Assembly @ 9:30 a.m. Location: Lawson High School Our Veterans Day activities will feature: Student Presentations: Students will share creative work, including essays, poems, artwork, and musical performances reflecting the importance of Veterans Day. Recognition of Local Veterans: We will celebrate and recognize the veterans within our school community. Patriotic Music: The school band and choir will perform patriotic songs in tribute to our veterans. We encourage students to invite veterans they know—whether family, friends, or neighbors—to join this special celebration. The event aims not only to honor the sacrifices of our veterans but also to foster unity and gratitude. Lawson Cardinal Stadium Complex Closed - BEGINNING 10/22 Our athletic stadium complex, including the football field, track, and softball field, will be closed to all foot traffic beginning on the morning of Tuesday, October 22. This is due to the resealing and painting of the track and runways. The stadium will remain closed through the process, with an anticipated reopening date of November 12.  The project is being completed as part of the April 2024 Bond - Scope of Work.

We are excited to announce that Ben Mayne has completed his Eagle Scout Project to create sheltered seating in the Bonus/Recess Time area for the Middle School! This project took over 150 hours of work from planning to completing, including volunteers, donors, and personal efforts. Ben hopes the bench fills the need for shade, a place of rest, and a place to build friendships for the school and community. #WeAreLawson

September Board Spotlights: The Board had the opportunity to celebrate and spotlight 3 individuals during this month's meeting. The first spotlight was on Joelle Barker and Hunter Thompson for their selection and attendance at Girls and Boys State this past summer. The Lawson Rotary Club sponsored both. Our second spotlight was on Gabrielle Knoch. Gabrielle was selected through a competitive application process to attend the MU Kinder Institute Constitutional Democracy Academy this past summer. Our final spotlight was focused on 4th-grade teacher Mrs. Crystal Hochewelder for her selection as one of two MO Central Region Teachers of the Year. #WeAreLawson
