We are excited to announce that Ben Mayne has completed his Eagle Scout Project to create sheltered seating in the Bonus/Recess Time area for the Middle School! This project took over 150 hours of work from planning to completing, including volunteers, donors, and personal efforts. Ben hopes the bench fills the need for shade, a place of rest, and a place to build friendships for the school and community. #WeAreLawson

The Importance of Regular School Attendance 8/30/2024 Dear Parents and Guardians, I hope this message finds you well. As we work together to ensure the success of our students, I want to emphasize the critical role that regular school attendance plays in your child's academic and personal development. Why Attendance Matters: 1. Consistent Learning: Regular attendance helps your child stay on track with lessons and assignments. Each day in the classroom builds upon the previous one, and missing even a single day can create gaps in their understanding. 2. Social Development: Attending school daily helps your child develop strong social skills by interacting with peers and participating in group activities, which is essential for building teamwork and communication skills. 3. Building Responsibility: By attending school regularly, your child learns the importance of commitment and responsibility, habits that will benefit them throughout their lives. 4. Better Outcomes: Research shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically, graduate on time, and pursue higher education or career opportunities. How You Can Help: • Set a Routine: Establish a consistent daily routine that includes a healthy bedtime and morning routine, ensuring your child is well-rested and prepared for the school day. • Communicate with Us: If your child is facing challenges affecting their attendance, please contact us. We are here to support you and find solutions together. • Avoid Unnecessary Absences: Please schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours whenever possible to minimize disruptions to your child's learning. We understand that there are times when absences are unavoidable, such as due to illness. In those cases, please inform the school as soon as possible, and we'll work with you to ensure your child catches up on missed work. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. Together, we can ensure every student has the best opportunity to succeed. Sincerely, Dr. Michael Stephenson Superintendent of Schools Lawson R-XIV School District

Lawson School District Receives a $250,000 Weight Equipment Donation from Snap Fitness in St. Joseph, MO. With the assistance of LHS Alumni Tanner Stark, Coach Crawford was instrumental in organizing a significant donation to the Lawson School District. The donation was made possible based on an agreement between Snap Fitness and the School District to provide a written tax receipt acknowledging the donation and the understanding that the district would be responsible for loading and hauling all the equipment. The mass amount of equipment we obtained for no cost was valued between $250,000 and $300,000 new. The equipment is all in safe working order and of the highest quality, and Lawson's color scheme is even included. The opportunity was something we could have never dreamed of. Coach Crawford and ten trailers, drivers, and a bobcat with forks made their way to St. Joseph on the morning of August 3rd. After 3 hours of hard work, the assembles team had the gym cleared out and were headed back to Lawson. Without the help of several assistant coaches Daniel Nutter, Mitchell Morrow, Todd Dunn, Dan Dreesen, Nate Robison, Dustin Sullard, alumni Tara Crawford and Tanner Stark, and parents Travis Bennett and Rick Vosika, the day would not have been possible. Their selfless volunteerism on August 3rd was vital to Lawson receiving this unheard-of gift. The gifted equipment has allowed us to move our weights program forward by decades. It has also allowed the district to begin planning a designated middle school weight training program and a room with safe machine-oriented equipment. Again, we thank Snap Fitness for their charitable donation and the Lawson volunteer group for making this possible. The donation has saved the School District tens of thousands of dollars in equipment upgrades, and doing so is truly a blessing.

Our teachers and staff received training today on our upgraded classroom technology. Every classroom had SmarPanel TVs installed over the summer. This upgrade brings a barrage of learning tools to the fingertips of our students and teachers. These upgrades were all made possible by the support of our community in the passage of our April 2024 Bond. #WeAreLawson
