The Lawson High School FBLA Chapter recently participated in the District Leadership Conference. 13 Lawson High School students participated in 18 different tests and performance events. On Monday, February 3, Mrs. Glenn took eight students to their district contest at UMKC. The students brought home seven medals, including a few that qualified for state competition in April.
Students who attended UMKC were:
Josilyn Sandoval, senior; Haley Lewis, junior; Lola Bolinger, junior; Lily Ripley, senior; Preston Yarbrough, sophomore; Madisyn Nutter, senior; Isaac Willoughby, senior; and Clara Gilliam, sophomore.
Other participating students (but not able to attend UMKC) included:
Joelle Barker, senior; Makynzee Hubbard, senior; Emerson Yarbrough, senior; and Bailey Payne, freshman.
The following students finished in the top 10 (the top 5 medal and advance to state) in objective testing:
Isaac Willoughby, Accounting, 8th place
Joelle Barker, Business Communication, 6th place; Journalism, 2nd place; and Organizational Leadership, 5th place.
Emerson Yarbrough, Business Communication, 10th place
Preston Yarbrough, Financial Math, 10th place
Clara Gilliam, Intro to Business Communications, 2nd place; Intro to Parliamentary Procedure, 5th place
Isaac and Preston finished 10th as a team in Sports & Entertainment Management
