September 02, 2010

The Lawson Lady Cards golf team started its season Tuesday, August 31. Shelby Malott (12) was the only medalist from Lawson, shooting a 44. Coach Brad Smith along with various members of the golf team look forward to improvement as the season progresses.
“For the first matches of the year, it was alright. We can definitely improve,” Smith said. Various members of the team are looking forward to a season of improvement.
“I’ve improved a lot since last year," Halee Baxley (10) said. "I’m excited to see how well I will do this year opposed to last.”

Other team mates are  pleased with their results this early.
“I was kind of pleased; I could do better and I’m sure I will as the season continues,” Kylee Boyer (11) said. “But, I don’t think it was bad for the beginning of the season.”
With the start of a brand new season, Coach Smith has some goals for the season.
“We would like to win more matches, also, get more consistency from the team. Short game needs a lot of work,” Smith said.

Individuals on the team have also set some goals for themselves.
“I would like to make it to Sectionals,” Boyer said. Others have more than one goal in mind. “I want to get lower scores at matches,” Baxley said. “I also want to get a lot better on my short game!” Baxley said.
